This week on the podcast we're talking about the most overrated lens for wedding photographers. We're also talking about trips to California and Mexico, Lightroom being sold on the Mac App Store, the stolen Royal wedding photos and some fun stuff like bloodsucking kissing bugs and Dr. Marijuana Pepsi Vandyck. Dustin also cracks open a cold case. That's right, he's reopened the case of his SEO guy who sent him a letter saying that the SEO business had gone bankrupt. It's juicy as hell. Plus we have a lot of information about smoke bombs, fog machines, and atmosphere aerosol in the follow up. Also, someone admits to making a huge mistake with regard to their photo editing software.
This week is big! We have special messages from a bunch of past guests. We're talking about Dobby being spotted on camera! We talk about the USMNT and the USWNT (Go USWNT! Win the World Cup!). We also talk about a blind photographer, women hiring photographers to capture their dating profile pics, a wedding crasher caught on camera by a wedding photographer, an octopus that stole a camera, a drunk gorilla that punched a photographer, and the perfect photo of a Great White shark that mimics Jaws.
This week we're talking a lot about that new Mac Pro from Apple. It may look like a cheese grater, but we're pretty certain it doesn't grate cheese. Steve posits a theory about Patrick Rothfuss's book series The Kingkiller Chronicle which is oddly related to this new Mac Pro. We talk about what you should do if a bride asks you not to take many photos of a bridesmaid. We also talk about what it's like to do photography in your thirties.
This week we're talking about the death of the Canon 7D, why some people are afraid to try new types of photography (specifically wedding photography), and how Sony just pushed Nikon out of the number two spot for camera sales in the US. We also have the harrowing tale of one man getting bitten by a devilish fiend, updates on Dustin's time in politics, and a little talk about Aston Villa making it back to the Premier League! We know you all love when we talk about football/soccer.
This week we're talking about photographers paying their personal property tax, Dustin selling his soul and working for a political party, Adobe telling users of CS6 they could get sued, and the biggest mistake a photographer could make. Also, the New York Times tells us how to do our jobs... WTF New York Times?
This week we had Matt Payne of the F-Stop Collaborate and Listen podcast on the show. Matt’s a tremendous landscape photographer and mountain climber. We talked with Matt about what gear you should pack when backpacking and shooting, how drones impact the way he shoots, how photographers can be more conscientious of how they interact with nature, and what his scariest interaction has been with an animal while camping.
We're taking a deep dive into an anonymous listener's question this week about doing photos for their wife's identical twin. But first we're talking about a 300 person die in event, a handsy videographer who kept calling the photographer friend, drones delivering human organs, Adobe testing raising their prices on photographers, B&H's new BayPoo sales tax credit card scheme, a museum that banned photos of people eating bananas and the glorious reaction on twitter and instagram, a guy who can't figure out why people are willing to pay more for photos than they are for video, and someone on twitter getting upset that people are having fun with prom.
This week we had Nathan Holritz on the show! Nathan is the host of the Bokeh podcast and A Love Portrait podcast. He's also the CEO of Photographers Edit and Miilu. We talk with Nathan about his transition from wedding photographer to CEO of a wedding photo editing company, about his goals with the Bokeh podcast, about how to feed frozen mice to pet snakes, and how to turn photographers serving jail time into editing machines. Nathan also teaches how to say penis in Japanese, so stick around till the very end.
This week we're diving deep into all of the good news. We've spent so many weeks discussing terrible things. We're getting dragged down by it. So, we're talking about an SD card error, weird must list requests, the photographer and his wife that replanted an entire forest, paying for photos without a watermark, anti-selfies, and a Wakanda inspired newborn shoot.
This week we're talking about robot photographers, photographers that don't deliver albums and photographers that bring unvaccinated toddlers to newborn shoots. So tune in to get the details on how you can survive the forthcoming robot apocalypse by being a great robot manager. Or don't do that. Either way, it's a good, good show, even if we forgot about the 4/20 and Easter Holidays.
This week we're talking about some photography and videography criminals. There's the photographer who doesn't deliver wedding photos, the videographer who doesn't show up to weddings and sometimes delivers videos with footage from other weddings in the mix, and there's the drone footage from Yellowstone of a rollerblader that Skydio shared.
Unfortunately this week Dustin was unable to record, so we brought in Jennifer Van Elk to make that sweet, sweet magic happen. We talk about indecent proposals, Granny’s Red Rocket, Bride’s claiming that their photographer left them high and dry, beer that processes film, and couples that had to wait 50 years to get their wedding photos.
This week we were joined by Kari Bellamy and Marianne Chua of the Amazeballs Wedding Photography Podcast and the Chua and the Bell youtube channel. Marianne and Kari are both wedding photographers based out of London, in the UK. We talk with the two of them about their experiences working as wedding photographers and how they got started. We also talk with them a lot about Secret Cinema, Fujifilm cameras and Sony cameras... because we love to talk about mirrorless kits.
This week we’re joined by the crew from the I Don’t Give an F-Stop Podcast to talk about wedding photography, running small businesses, a little bit about their podcast and a lot about their relationships with each other. We talk a lot about styled shoots, the back end of producing a live video show that’s then turned into a podcast, working for Disney, what kind of man meat could make a girl break up with her boyfriend of 2 years at first sight, and some scary stuff like dealing with life threatening illnesses.
This episode has a few rants. We put a musical bed underneath them to make them a little more palatable for people who don’t like rants… but if you don’t like angry rants then you probably quit this show a long time ago. So, we’re both a little angry this week and flying off the handle. But it’s for a good cause. We just think photographers deserve to be treated well, and one of us especially thinks that photographers need to treat other photographers well. But before we get to those rants, we gotta talk about this new post-wedding fad. It’s called Mr. Rogering. It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Won’t you be our neighbors?
This week we’re diving deep into a bunch of news stories! Yeah! We’re talking about the Canon EOS RP, the Fujifilm X-T30, Nikon adding that eye autofocus to their cameras via a firmware update, the new no fly zones from DJI, the Cracker Barrel Wedding Couple, the Aquaman and Mera themed wedding, and the Better in Miniature pre-wedding photographer.
